SMART Docs, Don’t Just Do These 3 Things When It Comes to Contracts

...the top three things that I don't want physicians to do anymore when it comes to our contracts.

 

1. We don't negotiate.


Guys, we've got to negotiate. It is non-negotiable.

You have to negotiate.

We can talk about how to do so but that's a mindset shift I want us to have.

 

2. We sign our contracts way too fast.


I can't tell you how many docs come to me and say...

"Well, I need to sign this in five days"

or...

"They want me to sign it in five days."

Who signs a six-figure contract in five days?
Pretty much nobody but physicians.

Don't do that anymore.

And then the only thing we seem to look at...

 

3. We seem to be most concerned about what? The money.


We have to focus on the other landmines and issues that I have found to sink physicians in ways that we don't even know about or understand because we're always concentrating on the dollar signs.

The dollar signs will be there but let's make sure we understand the remainder of the contract so we can avoid those landmines that really end up hurting us in ways sometimes that are irreparable.
